One week in

Well I am now an official employee of Walt Disney World

Which is mainly the reason it has taken me so long to write up another blog (that and I've been working on my tan)...
I cannot believe it has been a week already!! It has flown by, but at the same time it feels like we have been here so long. Everyone is getting on great, it's like a lovely little family :) I really do feel special to have met such lovely people. Today we get newbies which is exciting! They won't be in any of our apartments because we are now full, but hopefully there will be some coming to Vista Way.

Work wise, as I said last time I am working at Downtown Disney, a really buzzing little place (not really little, it's the same size as Magic Kingdom, more about that later), and will be working in a shop called World of Disney, the biggest Disney shop in the world with 20,000 people passing through the door each day, so I don't think I'll be getting too bored!! So currently I am on the job training, and have settled right in. We've been taught how to interact with the guests, and give the children a magical experiance, usually including pixie dust which is cute! I can say I am so happy with my hours too, I am mainly working evenings (about 4 until midnight), which means I have the whole day to sunbath and chat to you lot, which by the way, I cannot get skype to work at the moment! My custome though, is DISGUSTING!! In the words of one of my friends Laura, "a big bowling shoe". I don't have a picture of that yet, but I will be sure to take when later when I go to work and e-mail it out for you all to admire. Although I do have a picture of me at the Disney University...
This is where we have been doing our Merchantainment and cash register training.

I hear I'm missing horrendous weather??? Don't worry, we've had it too!! A few of us went to Magic Kingdom the other day, because that is what we do when we are bored and we can get in for free...
Anyway, yeah so we went there, had a fab time, until the worst strom I have EVER seen decided to come out to play. We got so wet and the thunder was so loud. Here is a picture of the castle in the storm. Times like that I really had my SLR because it just doesn't show the contract between the brightness and prettiness of the castle, compared to how angry and scary the sky looked, but I did my best. Excuse the big splodge of rain on the lens...
Please consider the fact that it was only around 7pm at this time, so they sky wasn't actually dark, that was just the cloud...

So I hope you enjoyed a little update, I must dash now though as I have 4 hours of pool time to fit in before work this evening. Love and miss all your faces.

This summer Matthew, I am going to be...

...Working in Downtown Disney!!!

Probably my 3rd choice, so I'm happy! Although, Disneys Days of Christmas (yes a Christmas shop open 365 days of the year) is there...and I am yet to find out which shop I am working in...
Please all beg for me that it is not there!

Anyways, so I am here now!! After a horrible 12 hour journey and a horrible late night trip to Walmart (I dislike that place already) I am settled! Today we have Orientation Day 1, which is basically an introduction and we get given a whole set of rules, and find out where we are working! I won;t lie, it was quite boring. It's also not nice to be sat in an air conditioned room, when you know how fabulous the weather is outside. Tomorrow we have another day like today, although I think it's shorter, I hope, because I haven't yet been in my pool! And then on Friday, we have Traditions, first working day!!!

So I must tell you about my housemates! There are two girls from Mexico called Pamela and Alexandra, a girl from Hong Kong called Merissa, and a girl from Liverpool called Lauren. We still have one bed free, so hopefully we will get a 'new girl'!!

Tonight I'm off to Walmart (grr) and then to Downtown Disney with Lauren and a few others for food and drinks :)

Catch ya laters x

10 more sleeps...

Hello my gorgeous family and friends!

Well then...ONLY 10 SLEEPS UNTIL I GO! Well, probably 9, because I really don't think I will sleep the night before, I'll be two excited! I'll have to start saving up my magazines like I did when I was little and it was coming up to Christmas Eve, and I can read them all when I can't sleep!

Anyways, I've finished all my exams now, yay! So I have the next week to really prepare myself! I don't have anything else to do now, apart from pack, but that is the hardest thing! I think I'll need some help from some experts, any takers??? I have bought some lovely stuff to take with me though, including a jumpsuit, sunglasses, shorts, tops, a skirt, and 3 bikinis :)

I've had an idea from other peoples blogs, that I am going to make a list of 10 things I MUST do when out there, so here it is...

1. Rollerblade down the prom in Miami - Ok, so maybe this won't happen, but I would very much like to go to Miami. I hear they do day trips, so fingers crossed!

2. Swim with dolphins - Last time I was in Florida I managed to feed them at Seaworld, and loved every minute of it. So my aim this time is to swim with them. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I will be saving up and heading down to Discovery Cove.

3. Ride Thunder Mountain 10 times - It is my favorite ride at Magic Kingdom, so I have to prey I'm working there! Also I'm there for 10 weeks, so once a week is possible right?

4. Go to Hooters - Might as well go and see what all the fuss is about, and get myself a real life Hooters t-shirt.

5. Go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - I'm not a huge fan of the films, but it's the experience. Plus it looks amazing, and you can buy your own wand!

6. Attend pool parties and drink out of coloured plastic cups - If you don't know what I am talking about, watch any American teen based film.

7. Go to a gig - In Downtown Disney there is a club called House of Blues, and quite often some really cool bands play there. I am also there when the Vans Warped Tour visits Florida, so hopefully I can get that day off!

8. Make friends with American people called Brad and Britney - Again, watch any American teen based film

9. Learn to like Oreos - No reason for this. I know I will never like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so these are the next best thing in America.

10. Learn how to shuffle - Not cards, 'LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem'. I could probably do this in England, but it is my goal to practice and perfect it over the 10 weeks.

So then, that's all. Of course there is so many more things I want to do, but if I achieve these I will be happy :)
Any suggestions???

Bye for now
